Dental Examinations

A dental examination is an opportunity to understand your oral health, raise concerns and plan care before small problems become more difficult. Where early decay is found before a hole forms, Curodont Repair may be one of the minimally invasive options we discuss. We take time to listen to what matters to you, explain findings clearly and tailor the recommended recall interval and prevention advice to your needs.

At your appointment, we review your dental concerns, medical history, medicines and relevant lifestyle factors. We examine the teeth, existing restorations, gums and soft tissues of the mouth and check for signs of decay, gum disease, tooth wear and mouth cancer. X-rays are taken only when clinically necessary.

Your first appointment with us

New patients receive a comprehensive assessment and time to discuss previous dental experiences, anxiety, priorities and longer-term aims. Necessary routine X-rays are included in the current new-patient examination fee. If more advanced imaging such as an OPG or CBCT scan is recommended, we will explain why and discuss any fee before proceeding.

If treatment is advised, you will receive a clear explanation of the options, benefits, limitations and likely costs. There is no pressure to make an immediate decision about non-urgent treatment.

Regular examinations

The right interval is individual. Some patients benefit from more frequent checks because of gum disease, decay risk, medical conditions or extensive dental work, while others may be suitable for longer intervals. Membership can make routine care easier to plan and includes examinations according to your chosen plan.

• New patient examination, including necessary routine X-rays: £65 limited-time fee; usually £130
• Existing adult patient examination, excluding X-rays: £58
• Existing-patient examination with a practice plan: included
• Intra-oral X-ray: £16 each; included with a practice plan where clinically necessary

Frequently asked questions

Will I need X-rays?

Only when clinically justified. Their type and timing depend on your examination, symptoms, previous images and risk factors.

What if I feel nervous?

Tell us when booking or at the start of the appointment. We can slow the pace, agree signals and pauses, explain each step and begin with conversation before examination.

How often should I have an examination?

Your dentist recommends an interval based on your current health and future risk. It is not necessarily the same for every patient.

What happens if you find a problem?

We explain what we have found, the reasonable options and what may happen if it is monitored or left untreated. Non-urgent treatment is arranged only after you have had the opportunity to ask questions.
