Dentures should do more than replace missing teeth. They should support comfortable eating and speaking, feel secure enough for everyday life and look appropriate for you. Our approach combines careful clinical assessment with digital records and scanning where suitable, while retaining conventional techniques when they will give a better result.

We can discuss complete and partial dentures, immediate dentures placed around the time teeth are removed, acrylic or metal frameworks and implant-supported alternatives. The right option depends on your remaining teeth, gums, bite, dexterity, expectations and budget.

How digital planning can help

A digital scan can create a detailed record of your mouth without a traditional putty impression in suitable cases. Digital records can support communication with the dental laboratory and help us plan fit, appearance and tooth position. Some mouths or treatment stages still require conventional impressions; we will use whichever method is most predictable for you.

Digital does not mean one-size-fits-all or instant. Your clinician still needs to assess the health of your mouth, record how your jaws meet and review appearance, speech and comfort. Try-in or review stages may be needed before the final denture is completed.

Your denture journey

1. Consultation and assessment: we listen to what is not working, examine your mouth and discuss realistic options.
2. Records and planning: digital scans or conventional impressions are taken as appropriate, together with bite and appearance records.
3. Try-in and refinement: where applicable, you can review the proposed teeth, appearance and bite before completion.
4. Fit and aftercare: we check comfort and function, explain cleaning and arrange adjustments or reviews when needed.

Frequently asked questions

What does “digital” mean for dentures?

Where suitable, a scanner records the shape of your mouth and creates a digital file for planning and laboratory communication. It does not remove the need for careful examination, bite records, appearance checks or adjustments.

Are digital dentures suitable for everyone?

Not always. Scanning is very useful in many cases, but some mouths and treatment stages are recorded more accurately with conventional impressions. We will recommend the method most likely to provide a reliable result.

Can you replace a loose or uncomfortable denture?

Yes. We first assess why it is loose or sore. Relining, adjustment, replacement or an alternative such as an implant-supported denture may be discussed.

How long do dentures take to make?

The number and timing of appointments depend on the denture type and whether teeth are being removed. We will explain the stages before you start.

Will my new dentures need adjustments?

They may. Your mouth needs time to adapt, and the tissues can change, particularly after extractions. Reviews and adjustments are a normal part of denture care.
