Stages of Implant Treatment
1. Consultation and Planning
Your journey begins with a thorough consultation. We’ll:
Discuss your goals, concerns and the options available
Examine your teeth, gums and bite
Take digital scans and X-rays (including CBCT 3D imaging if needed)
Carefully plan the exact position, depth and angle of your implant for optimal function and aesthetics
2. Implant Placement
Carried out under local anaesthetic, with sedation available if required. If a tooth extraction is needed, you will advised on the best approach. Healing time may be necessary before implant placement, though sometimes extraction and implant placement can be done simultaneously. Bone grafting or sinus lifting may be performed if needed.
3. Two-Week Review
Check healing progress and removal of stitches.
4. Implant Healing Phase and Uncovering
It takes on average 3 months for the implant to integrate with your bone. After this period, your implant can be uncovered – a small surgical procedure under local anaesthetic to expose the implant and place a healing abutment, which shapes your gum for the implant crown.
5. Restoration
Once healed, we attach a custom-made crown, bridge, or denture to your implant. This restoration is designed to match your natural teeth in colour, shape, and size — so it looks and feels just like your own.
6. Aftercare & Maintenance
We’ll show you how to keep your implant healthy with tailored cleaning advice and recommend regular check-ups. With good care, implants can last for decades — often for life.
